| | | | Мнения на посетители: | | | | | I've been a long time reader of Matt McGee's fan blog [...] (which BTW I visit more often that U2's official website because the written content is often better) as well as a long time fan of Matt's writing so I was excited when I found out he was going to put his extensive knowledge about my favorite band into a full-fledged book. The results are outstanding.
Matt's research was thorough and incredibly accurate - the pictures are a delight, many of which were never before printed. It's the most comprehensive chronology I've seen so far and believe me, I've seen them all (and own most of them).
A must buy for the uberfan, but also a lot to offer the casual fan who wants to visit different seasons in the band's history at their own pace. Besides "U2 by U2" I don't think there's a better book about U2 out there. |  | | | I've read atleast 25 books on U2 and thought I knew it all, but Matt has found quite a few nuggets of info. that I either didn't know or forgot over the years. All the info on here is available elsewhere, however this should appeal to the obsessive-stalker type who wants to know where U2 was on a day to day basis.
As the review title suggests, this is more of a day planner than a diary, so 1-star for anyone not of the obsessive completist/stalker variety.

Author Matt McGee does a spectacular job organizing information, dates, and photos from as early back as 1950, up until the end of 2007.
Diehard U2 fans will want to read this diary from cover to cover, but there's something in here for everyone that's ever heard of the best band in the world. I found myself flipping directly to the pages of 1987 and reading tales of U2 in downtown Los Angeles. It was March 27th, 1987, when U2 performed on the rooftop of a liquor store on 7th and Main. I remember that day well. Where were you on that day? What shows have you been to? Do you still have your old ticket stubs? U2 A Diary is loaded with information that will take you down a rock 'n roll memory Lane.
An incredible amount of work has gone into the creation of this day-by-day diary and complete history of U2. The author should be awarded best U2 fan in the world. Thanks Matt McGee, for putting this all together. Awesome stuff! |
